Unbroken

How disciplined are you?

Ten questions, four answers each, scored 10, 7, 3 or 0 — so the total is out of 100 and you can check the arithmetic yourself. You get the number, the tier it sits in, and three things to do about it. It takes about thirty seconds, and only your latest score is kept.

Question 1 of 10

The method

How the score is worked out

Ten questions, four answers each, scored 10, 7, 3 and 0 from strongest to weakest. Add them and the total is out of 100 — there is no weighting, no curve and no hidden multiplier, which is why ten questions and a ten-point top answer were chosen in the first place: the arithmetic is checkable in your head.

The four tiers are 0 to 39, 40 to 59, 60 to 79 and 80 to 100. The ring around your number is a circle of radius 72, so its circumference is 452.39 units, and the arc drawn is your score as a fraction of that. The number on screen is the number the ring is showing.

What the questions cover is our own division of the ground: consistency, impulse control, goal-setting, follow-through and resilience after a miss, two questions apiece. That grouping is a reasonable way to spread ten questions across self-discipline and it is not lifted from a validated scale. Real instruments exist for this — they are longer, they are scored differently, and they have been tested against outcomes. This is not one of them, and it should not be read as a measurement of anything about you beyond how you answered ten questions in half a minute.

What it is good for is a baseline. The tips attached to each tier are ours, they are the same tips for everyone in that tier, and they are deliberately about doing one thing daily rather than about doing more.

Only your most recent score is kept, in this browser, and the page carries a button that forgets it.

Unbroken counts days. It does not measure anything about your body, and nothing above is medical, nutritional or fitness advice. Where a number here is our own judgement rather than a published figure, the note says so and cites nothing. Method last checked 21 August 2026.

Why Measure Your Discipline?

Self-discipline is the single best predictor of long-term success — more than IQ, talent, or luck. A landmark 2005 study by Angela Duckworth and Martin Seligman found that self-discipline outperformed IQ by a factor of two in predicting academic achievement. Yet most people never take the time to honestly assess where they stand.

This quiz gives you a concrete baseline. Instead of a vague feeling that you "should be more disciplined," you get a number — and numbers can be tracked, compared, and improved. Take the quiz today, then take it again in 30 days and see what holding your rules was worth.

What the score is: the 10 questions ask about one of five things apiece — consistency, impulse control, goal-setting, follow-through, and resilience after failure. Your answers are added into a total out of 100, placing you in one of four tiers with specific, actionable tips. It is a self-assessment and a baseline, not a measurement of you.

Pair this quiz with a tracker that will not let you edit the past. Unbroken runs a 75-day pact with your squad: miss a task and the run restarts at Day 1. Take the quiz again in 30 days and watch the number move.

The questions

Frequently asked questions

How is the discipline score calculated?

Ten questions, four answers each, scored 10, 7, 3 or 0 from strongest to weakest — so the total is out of 100 and there is no weighting or curve behind it. The questions are spread two apiece across consistency, impulse control, goal-setting, follow-through and resilience after a miss. That grouping is our own, not a validated scale.

Can I retake the quiz?

Yes, you can retake the quiz as many times as you want. Your most recent score is saved locally in your browser.

What do the score tiers mean?

Scores are grouped into four tiers: Discipline in Progress (0-39), Building Momentum (40-59), Locked In (60-79), and Elite (80-100). Each tier comes with specific action tips.

Is this quiz scientifically validated?

The questions are inspired by established self-discipline research, but this is a self-assessment tool, not a clinical instrument. Use it as a starting point for self-reflection.

How can I improve my discipline score?

Start with one or two rules and hold them every day. Consistency beats intensity. Unbroken turns that into a pact with a fixed length and a squad holding the same rules with you.
